HOW TO MAKE BLUEBERRY MOJITO

Using a muddler, muddle blueberries and simple syrup in a large highball glass (16oz) to release the juices. Try to get the blueberry pieces small enough to fit through a straw. You can use a blender for this step if preferred. (Muddling is a technique used to gently mash herbs and/or fruit to release the essence or juices.)
Clap the mint together in your hands to release the scent (you’ll know it’s worked when your hands smell minty!). And add the leaves to the glass.
Add in 2 oz rum and 1 oz lime juice, and stir to combine.
Fill your glass with ice to about an inch below the rim – this will give you room to stir. Top with lemon-lime soda and stir gently. The goal is to lift the blueberries, lime, mint and sweetener from the bottom of the glass and evenly disperse it throughout the drink.
Garnish with extra blueberries, mint and lime wheels.

RECIPE FAQ’S

Q. HOW TO MAKE THIS BLUEBERRY MOJITO SWEETER?

A. To make this mojito sweeter, adjust the amount of simple syrup to taste. Add more, if desired.

Q. CAN I USE FROZEN BLUEBERRIES?

A. If you can’t get your hands on fresh berries, you can also use frozen blueberries. Make sure to fully thaw them before use.

Q. HOW DO I MUDDLE BLUEBERRIES?

A. Place the berries at the bottom of your glass. Then use a firm pressing and twisting motion to juice and crush the blueberries.

Q. CAN I MAKE A PITCHER OF MOJITOS?

A. Absolutely! You can simply triple the recipe ingredients and prepare the mojito in the pitcher without ice or club soda. When you’re ready to serve, add the club soda into the pitcher and stir gently.

Q. CAN I USE OTHER BERRIES IN THIS BLUEBERRY MOJITO?

A. Sure! A mix of your favorite berries is a great substitute for blueberries in this recipe. If you’d like to experiment with flavors and colors, you can add some raspberries and strawberries to the mix. It will give this mojito a slightly different flavor profile and color too.

Q. CAN I USE FROZEN MINT?

A. I would highly recommend getting fresh mint to make these mojitos. Fresh mint is key for that cooling, minty flavor and will enhance the cocktail.

Q. I DON’T LIKE FRUITY BITS IN MY DRINK. WHAT CAN I DO?

A. If you don’t like fruity bits in your drinks, strain the puréed blueberries for a smooth cocktail.

Q: Can I use a different soda instead of lemon-lime soda?

A: Yes, you can substitute lemon-lime soda with ginger ale or club soda. However, this will alter the flavor and sweetness of the blueberry mojito.

Q: How can I make the MOJITO more visually appealing?

A: Garnish with lime wedges, extra blueberries, mint leaves. Using a clear glass will also highlight the vibrant layers.
